Clara Guy Obituary
Virginia Beach - Clara Patricia Guy, 79, passed away on April 7, 2014 in Our Lady of Perpetual Help. She was born in Jamaica, NY on February 16, 1935, and was a graduate of West Hemstead High School in Long Island, NY. She moved to Virginia Beach with her family in the late 1950's. She was the daughter of the late Alfred and Marian Cistola, who were both born in Italy and came to this country (NY) in the early 1900's. She was also preceded in death by her son, Richard D. (Richie) Guy Jr, and her brothers, Horace A. Cistola and Michael A. Cistola.
She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church on Great Neck Road and was a Greeter. She formerly was a member of the Board of the Virginia Beach Forum, the Navy League, and the Chesopian Colony Garden Club. She was a volunteer with CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) for children.
Survivors include her husband, Richard D. Guy, her children, Patricia (Tricia) Edwards and her husband Dr. Richard R. Edwards of Newport News, VA, and David S. Guy and his wife Natalie G. Guy of Virginia Beach, grandchildren, Richard (Rick) P., Ryan G., and Rachel M. Edwards, and Olivia H., and Lauren P. Guy, as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday April 11, at 11 a.m. in Church of the Holy Family. Interment will follow in Princess Anne Memorial Park. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Rd Chapel is handling arrangements.
The family would like to thank the staff at Our Lady of Perpetual Help for their loving support and care during her stay there. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Church of the Holy Family, 1279 N. Great Neck Rd in Virginia Beach or to the Alzheimer's Association, 6350 Center Dr, Suite 102, Norfolk, VA 23501-4701. Online condolences may be made to the family at hdoliver.com.

Ms. Clara was a special lady. She was my favorite hospice patient. We would take walks outside and she would sigh loudly when we got into the fresh air. When we would look at the picture in her room she would watch closely as we went through each picture and talked about her family. I will miss her dearly but so happy she is no longer suffering. Ms. Clara is now walking and talking on streets of gold. Heaven is a lucky place.

Uncle Richard,Tricia and David...i am so sorry to hear of Aunt Clara's passing. She was a very special woman and will always hold the brightest spots in my memory. I loved her very much and will continue to pray for her soul and for you to find peace in her passing. She was an incredible person who lives on in those of us to whom she brought tremendous joy. All my love to you.
