Clara Perry Obituary

Clara N. Perry VIRGINIA BEACH - Clara Newbern Perry, 97, passed away peacefully Aug. 21, 2010 in Sentara Life Center in Virginia Beach. Mrs. Perry was born and raised at Wash Woods in Virginia Beach and was the wife of the late Condon Lee Perry. She and her late husband both worked as caretakers for the Dudley's Island Hunt Club and retired after 30 years. Clara loved to hunt and fish and was a wonderful cook. She was a loving mother, aunt, grandmother, great- grandmother, and great-great -grandmother who will be deeply missed. She lived a long, healthy, peaceful life. She was preceded in death by a son, Condon Perry Jr. and two daughters, Jean Perry and Norma Morrill. Survivors include her three daughters, Mary Flora and her husband Bozie of Knotts Island, N.C., Linda Van Eiken and her husband Jerry and Connie Grafton and her husband Tom, all of Virginia Beach; two nephews, John Waterfield of Virginia Beach, Edward Newbern of Las Vegas; a brother-in-law, Bradley Perry of Chesapeake; 14 grandchildren; 20 great- grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank the staff at Sentara Life Center on Sentara way and Sentara Hospice for their excellent care given to Clara. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24, in H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel. A funeral will be held in the funeral home chapel Wednesday at 11 a.m. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Great Neck Baptist Church, 1820 General Jackson Drive, Virginia Beach. Online condolences may be made at www.hdoliver.com.
