Love you, Dano & miss you so much. I so enjoyed our last visit together in the spring. I will cherish it forever. You have become such a wonderful man, father, & such a blessing to my brother. You always were his pride & joy. My family & I are there for you George, Shirley, Michelle, & Dylan. Words can't express the pain in mine & I know y'alls hearts. I know it will never go completely away. I know the only one who can help us all during this unbelievable time isn't called the "Comforter" for nothing. Praying for His arms of Love to hold us all close & direct us to what needs to be done next.

I knew Daniel from Norview Middle and Azalea Little League. I remember his warm smile and how sweet he always was, and I see in the sweet things said of him, he never changed. I'm so sad to hear of his passing, and I'll be praying for family & friends to be blessed with love & peace & comfort now and in the years ahead. God bless! ❤
Mr. Hancock, I love the idea of a trust fund for his son, and I will be looking out for the details on how to contribute.

I have a hole in my heart that will never be filled. Dano was born my senior year in high school and poured so much love into my life for 42 years. I helped initiate him into the Order of the Knights Who Say Ni, wielding the power of the word "ni" or "nee" to protect himself from danger and torment. As a 5 year old, we witnessed the very first launch of the very first space shuttle together (he was so excited he immediately launched into an impressive nosebleed) on an epic drive from Virginia to Florida where he experienced his first adventure camping. He got his first stitches at my home in Wheeling, WV and shared the joys of baseball as a young man over many summers watching the Pirates and the Reds over 4th of July weekends. He was the first of his generation in our family. A special man. A man who never stopped trying to be a better person. A man with limitless love and an infinite power for forgiveness, often reminding me that we are all crazy and doing the best we can right now. In my most recent text with him he reminded me that "We are all crazy. Everyone's wIred different. I went through my lows. It will all work out."
I will miss his advice, his euphoric stories of his best two friends (his boy, Dylan, and my brother, George), and most of all sharing life with him.
God Bless you, dear, dear Dano. I will miss you. But I carry you in me every day. You touched lives.

As promised in an earlier comment, I have opened an account at my credit union in Melbourne, Florida with Dylan Graham Hancock as the account holder and me, George E. Hancock, Jr., as a joint owner. In lieu of flowers or other donations you may send a check written to either Dylan Graham Hancock or George E. Hancock, Jr. with a note in the memo line that it is for Dylan's memorial fund.
All the funeral charges have been covered so don't worry about easing that burden. This is solely for Dylan's future.
Thank you for all your kind comments. It is nice to see that Dano was so well liked.

After writing the obituary and having it published, I have decided to establish a fund for Daniel's son, Dylan in our local credit union with me as an executor. This will probably take place in a week or two after we have completed all necessary business.
If anyone would like to contribute I will publish the details here and my sister Bonita will follow up on Facebook.
Thank you to all who have expressed their condolences and memories of my best friend, Dano.

On behalf of myself and my brother Bob Lianez, we pass on our thoughts and prayers to Daniel's family. It was his grandmother who worked at our elementary school who introduced us to Daniel. We spent many summers together in Norview Heights. Sadly, we lost touch over time but I will always remember his friendship and his family. He will absolutely be missed.

I have known George & Shirley since 1976 w/ my deceased husband Leonard Myrtle attending school w/ George. There was no other beloved child as Dano. Always polite, adorable, & extremely intelligent, Dano was a sheer pleasure to watch growing up whether "wishing" as he called it in the creek behind our house in Whitetop, VA, so proud holding our newborn, Rebecca, in Rappahannock Co., VA, his tremendous baseball feats in Norfolk, & his laughter when our very young son, Nick squirmed between Dano & his female friend so Nick would have the young lady's complete attention. It is with much grief I write this passage as no words can summarize the life of Daniel Oliver Hancock; loved & cherished by all who knew him & especially those who were a part of his very short life.
