Dawn Zampko

Portsmouth - Dawn E. Zampko, 69, passed away Monday, Aug. 31, 2015 at Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center in Portsmouth, VA., following a long illness.

Dawn was born October 17, 1945 in Poughkeepsie NY, the daughter of Pauline (Champagne Williams) and Peter F. Kraus.

Dawn spent 20 years employed as a production line worker and machinist at Fargo Manufacturing in Poughkeepsie, NY.

An avid gardener, in 2001, Dawn and her husband Ronald Zampko won Chesapeake's Notable Yard award for Deep Creek.

Dawn was predeceased by her parents.

Survivors include her husband of 39 years, Ronald R. Zampko of Portsmouth, VA; her daughter Lisa and husband Brian Perkins of Chesapeake, VA; son Allan Robinson and his wife Julie, of Port Ewen, NY; daughter Rosemary Robinson of Portsmouth, VA; her grandchildren, Michael and Lindsay Perkins, and Christian Robinson. She is also survived by two brothers, Marty Kraus and his wife Kathe of New Paltz, NY and Robert Kraus and his wife Terri of New Paltz, NY; half-sister Melissa and Tim Gentry of Kernersville NC and several nieces and nephews.

A private, family viewing will take place on Friday, September 4, 2015 at the Woodlawn Funeral Home in Norfolk, VA.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dawn's name to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital.
