Donald Fitzgerald Obituary

Donald L. Fitzgerald GATES - Donald Lee Fitzgerald, 81, of Willeyton Road, died Monday, April 18, 2011 in Sentara Obici Hospital, Suffolk. Mr. Fitzgerald was born in Holloway, Ohio and was one of 12 children born to the late Howard Lee and Rebecca Lillian Stephen Fitzgerald. A retired lineman with C & P Telephone Company, he was a member of Great Fork Baptist Church. A veteran of both the Army and Navy, he was a member of Black Cat Hunt Club for 35 years and enjoyed spending time with his family. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Ann Fitzgerald, and a sister. Surviving are his wife of nearly 20 years, Sharon Stoll Fitzgerald; a daughter, Vickie L. Torr and husband Bill of Littleton; a son, Don Keith Fitzgerald of Alexandria, Va.; a stepdaughter, Deborah Farrow of Newport News; a stepson, Raymond Allen Farrow and wife Heather of Virginia Beach; six sisters; four brothers; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in Great Fork Baptist Church, Suffolk, by Dr. Donald Ray Jones. Friends may join the family in the social hall immediately following the service Friday and all other times at the residence. Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville, N.C., is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to any chapter of the American Cancer Society or to the Albemarle Commission Senior Nutrition Program, 104 Dobbs St., Hertford, NC 27944.
