1934 - 2022

Doris Bozeman (Dot) Hendricks, 88, of Greensboro, N.C., passed away Dec. 26, 2022 at her home.

She is survived by son, R. Michael Hendricks (Susan) of Charlotte; grandson R. Tyler Hendricks of Charlotte and Brooklyn, N.Y.; granddaughter, Joanna H. Brown (Jack) of Portsmouth, Va.; and two great-grandchildren, Jason Brown and Jalene Brown, both of Portsmouth, Va.

Dot was predeceased by husband Richard LeRoy (Dick) Hendricks Jr., who passed away on Dec. 18, 2022; by daughter, Terri Anne Hendricks; parents, Dorothy Cleo Weber and Thurmond Bozeman, Sr.; and brother, Thurmond Bozeman Jr.

Dot was born July 7, 1934, in Kinston, NC. She later moved to Portsmouth, Va., where she attended Woodrow Wilson High School and met Dick, the love of her life. They were married on July 10, 1952, and they remained together for more than 70 years. They shared a love of golf and often played in couples' events at the Cardinal Golf & Country Club. Dot was active in the women's golf association at the club for many years.

After Dick's recent passing, Dot could not imagine life without her forever soulmate, and she mournfully passed eight days later. They will spend eternity together.

The family would like to thank Gloria Phillips of Walkertown, N.C., for her devotion and care of Dot, especially in these last few weeks.

A joint visitation will be held 1-2 p.m. on Wed., Dec. 28 at the Forbis & Dick Funeral Home, 5926 W. Friendly Ave., Greensboro. A joint memorial service, open to visitors, will follow in the funeral home chapel. Rick Byrd, senior pastor of Cornerstone Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be at Westminster Gardens, 3601 Whitehurst Rd., Greensboro, immediately after the service.
