Doug Ivey
Portsmouth - Haynes Douglas "Doug" Ivey, 73, of Elmhurst Ct. passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2011 in a local hospital. He was born on June 10, 1938 in Dillon, South Carolina and was preceded in death by his parents, Vink and Bertha Ivey; three sisters; and three brothers. Doug retired as a police officer from the City of Portsmouth; and was a member of the F.O.P. Lodge and member of Kingdom Life Ministries, Chesapeake.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Patricia H. Ivey; a daughter, Sandra I. Jones and her husband Donald; two sons, Wayne Ivey and his wife Toni and Jeffery Ivey and fiancée Leah Whitten; four grandchildren, Bronson, Benjamin, Hannah, and C.J.; and a host of other extended family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, November 16, 2011 in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel by Rev. Randy Wooden. Burial will follow in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.

The other day, I thought back to the Late 70s, when Mr. and Mrs. Ivey's family took me in for a few months because I needed a place to stay. I just found out about his passing. I shall never forget the kindness shown to me during my time of need. God bless his family.

So very sad to hear about the passing of Mr. Ivey.I did not know him that well ,however i worked with his son Wayne at G.R.Davis back in the 1970`s.My sympathy goes out to you Wayne and family.

I am so sorry to hear about Doug's passing. We have fond memories of him when we all went to Great Bridge Church of God together. I remember him always smiling and kidding around with my kids. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Doug was a beautiful person. He always had a smile on his face and full of compliments. He was a bright light here at Western Branch Diesel, Inc. I especially am saddened to here of his passing and my thoughts and prayers are with all of his family especially Pat his wife.
