Edna Mishoe

Edna I. Mishoe PORTSMOUTH - Edna I. Mishoe, 87, formerly of Gay Avenue, died Sept. 24, 2010 in Melbourne, Fla. Mrs. Mishoe was born May 3, 1923 in St. Paul's, N.C., and is the widow of Rupert D. Cartrette, a casualty of World War II, and James M. Mishoe who died in 1999. She retired from the Giant Open Air Market and was one of the original members of St. Andrews United Methodist Church. Survivors include a son, Ronald J. Cartrette and his wife Patricia of Rockledge, Fla.; a son-in-law, Kenneth S. Moore of Suffolk; six grandchildren including Kenneth M. Culpepper and wife Anwhitney of Atlanta, Rhonda C. Chaffin and husband Senior Chief Todd Chaffin of Kailua, Hawaii, Col. Eric H. Froehlich and wife Stephanie of Dumfries, Va., Julie A. Ray and husband the Rev. Cody Ray of Hickory, N.C., Stan and John Moore of Chesapeake; nine great- grand-children; a sister, Ruth Stone of Laurel Hill, N.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her husbands, Mrs. Mishoe was preceded in death by her parents, Edmond and Mary Blackburn Ivey; two daughters, Brenda C. Moore and Diana M. Grimes; and five sisters and two brothers. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 1, in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, with her grandson, Ken Culpepper, officiating. Entombment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
