I served briefly With Chief Powers as HM1 Hickey's relief aboard the USS Decatur in '68, just before Doc received new orders. During that period he was a great teacher and taught me much during that short time. My heart felt condolences go out to his wife and family.

Ed & I grew up together on Spring Street in Medford. There were 5 of us in the Spring Street gang. He was a great companion and friend. We will miss you buddy.

A sad day. Ed fought gallantly for so many years. Each time we spoke during his battle, he would always be upbeat about a new method of combating his condition, only to have another disappointment. He never seemed to be discouraged as his physicians tried the latest treatments. It has been a pleasure to have known him this past fifty-three years. May he rest in peace.

Having fun (and some margaritas) at a neighborhood party with Ed and Tina last year.

Gerry & I are going to miss Ed, his dry sense of humor and quick wit. His "sea stories" were so interesting.

Have great memories of Doc taking care of us on the Decatur. It was at the first Decatur reunion in Virginia that we caught up with Doc after maybe 35 years and wife Tina.. Remember watching my wife and Tina and a couple other ladies dancing to WMCA..We were all having a great time.. Those are the kind of memories I will always have of Doc and Tina.. Our prayers go out to Doc's family..
