Eva Dahm Obituary

Eva Charlotte Dahm
Chesapeake - Eva Charlotte Dahm passed away in her Chesapeake, Virginia home on November 14, 2012. Born on December 27, 1919, in Berlin, Germany, she was a loving wife of 71 years to Michael, also of Chesapeake, and dearly treasured mother to Walter and his wife Carol, of Castleton, Vermont, and Ken and his wife Betty, of Chesapeake. She was also the sweetest grandmother ever to Lori, Walter, Debbie, Colleen, Paul, Brendan, and Dottie, great-grandmother to Kristen, Trevor, Megan, Amy, Claire, and Sophie, and great-great-grandmother to Savannah. Also dear to her were her nephew George, his wife Andrea, and great-nephews Derek and Akim, as well as many church friends and special neighbors like Amber, Bailey, and Travis, who always had a hug and friendly hello for "Miss Eva." A perfect German hostess to the end, even her nurses were offered coffee and cookies.
The family thanks Toni, Barbara, and LaTonya of Medi Home Health & Hospice for the great blessing of their care and kindness, as well as countless friends in New Jersey and Virginia who loved Eva and brought joy to her life.
"Brothers and sisters, we want you to know about those who have died. We don't want you to be sad like other people-those who have no hope. We believe that Jesus died, but we also believe that he rose again. So we believe that God will raise to life through Jesus any who have died and bring them together with him when he comes." 1Thes. 4:13-14

Dear Betty, dear Ken: We met your Mutti only a few times and each time it was the first time for her. She was always delighted to meet us, interested in us. Frau Dahm was a lovely, gracious Lady. Werner and I are sad that you had to say good bye to her. We praise the Lord that we will be united again in Heaven.

I had the priviledge of knowing Eva personally. Not one to complain and ready to enjoy those she came in contact with. A fond memory was a time we were to have coffee together and she forgot to put the filter in the pot.She was such a gracious lady.

O Eva will be missed on earth but we will join her in Heaven one day. I am so thankful of how she loved my two sons Derek and Akim and would make us laugh mixing German and English together. A precious little lady with a big big heart. Bless you Mike and Kenny. Love Gail Bischoff Barth

My daughters and I will miss Eva. Though we would see her so seldomly because of the miles between us, she was a treasured member of our family and a source for our smiles. When Camille was younger, she asked about "Adam and Eve" living with Ken and Betty. We giggled and said "she isn't THAT old".

Our prayers are with you all and Ken, we thank you for coming into our family so many years ago and bringing such sweet parents with you. We love you all.

Biologically, Eva was my mother. Emotionally, she was my grandma.
Spiritually, she was my sister.
Thanks Mom, for being so much to me.
