Florence Gibson Obituary

Florence B. Gibson PORTSMOUTH - Florence Bolling Gibson, 74, of the 700 block of Flanders Circle, died May 24, 2009, in a Portsmouth nursing home. A native of Wise County, Virginia, she was a retired cafeteria manager with the Portsmouth Public Schools. Survivors include her husband, Bobby E. Gibson Sr.; three daughters, Karen Ann August of Portsmouth, Joyce G. Banks of Adrian, Mich., and Edna D. Owens of Suffolk; one son, Bobby E. Gibson Jr. of Wilmington, N.C.; four sisters, Cora Minor of Jenkins, Ky., Charlotte Adams of Wise, Va., and Bessie Thompson and Teresa Bolling of Norton, Va.; two brothers, Emory Bolling of Canton, Ohio, and James H. Bolling of Winter Haven, Fla.; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a faithful friend, Rachel Braman; and her extended family at Autumn Care of Portsmouth. The family will receive friends in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Breast Cancer Research. www.SturtevantFuneralHome.com.
