Frank J. Carr

Frank James Carr went to be with the Lord, Thursday, May 18th at the age of 84. Growing up in Brooklyn, NY, the only son of Frank Gerard Carr and Dorthy Sodaro Carr. He graduated a with BS in Physics from SUNY at Oyster Bay, rowing crew and playing basketball. Initially he worked at the shipyard in New Port News, Virginia developing navigation technology improvements for the Navy. After moving to Northern Virginia, he pursued and received a Masters degree in Engineering Management at George Washington University. He became an executive at Advanced Technology and later ran the government practice at Booz, Allen, and Hamilton where he retired as a Senior Vice President. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing Bridge. After retiring, He and his beloved wife of 61 years, Eleanor Carr, enjoyed serving at the church in different capacities. At their church in Portsmouth, he enjoyed men's Bible studies and participating in Westpark's Passion play. He loved his summers at Camp Delaware in New York State and his church family at Sherman Bible Chapel, reading on the screened in porch, cutting the fields, and playing cards with family in the evenings. Frank is survived by his children, James Carr (Stella - wife), Peter Carr (Virginia - wife), and Julie Groff (Donnie - husband), and his eleven grandchildren: Frankie Carr (Vanessa - wife), Matt Crone, Rachel Carr, Hope Groff, Buddy Groff, Colee Carr, Ellie Carr, Cassie Carr, Faith Groff, Rachael Stevens, and William Carr, and one great grandchild Brooke Crone. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Ann Garhart (Jack - husband), and brother-in-law, Vic Maxwell, and his many beloved cousins like Jeff Maher, Dr. Ed Sodaro, and John Sodaro.
