Ganesh Nirmul Obituary

Dr. Ganesh Nirmul, fondly known to those who loved him as "Blue", passed away Sunday, July 19, 2020 in Scottsdale, Arizona after bravely battling Coronavirus. Ganesh was born July 5, 1938 in Durban South Africa to his parents Rambaram Nirmul and Rajdei Monsamy Nirmul. He and his beloved wife Jasodera Manoo emigrated to the United States as physicians and created a family and community for years in Suffolk, Virginia before they retired in Scottsdale, Arizona in 1999. He was a beloved friend and mentor and was always up for a round of golf or tennis.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Jasodera, with whom he spent 54 wonderful, adventurous years of marriage with. He is also survived by his son Antosh, daughter Camlesh, daughter Nilima Nirmul-Gyuricsko and son-in-law Eric Gyuricsko and their children Kailyn, Brynna and Tyler who will miss their beloved "Nana".

He is also survived by his 5 brothers and 2 sisters and their families including numerous nieces and nephews and other family both here and in South Africa.

"Blue" was well known for his sharp and somewhat flashy dressing, that didn't always match, even more complicated by the fact that he was color-blind. He will forever be remembered for his love of nature and sports, his guidance to all who needed, his strength of character and his wealth of love devoted to his family.

Was a surgical nurse at Obici and worked with both he and his wife. He was a wonderful surgeon and a good person. Both he and his wife treated us with respect and freindship. The world was a better place with him in it.
My prayers are with the family.

I have such vivid memories of Dr. G Nurmil, a well respected and admired surgeon at Obici Hospital for many years. I worked at the hospital for 20 years , at first on fourth floor where Mary Howell was the head Nurse and then as the Coordinator of Outpt Cemotherapy on 3 rd floor under Kaye Culpepper. As I said, I respected and admired this surgeon greatly. It is very strange, I continue to have many dreams as an RN at Obici and I dreamed a dream in which he was a part of not long ago. I was helping him as a bedside nurse insert a chest tube. Strange timing. Dr. J Nurmil delivered both my babies, one in 1978 and one in 1982. They are now grown men, one 41 and one 38. Thank you to both Drs. for your example and your tireless work to help mankind. Much sympathy to you Dr. J Nurmil and your family.

I was his nurse for 15 years and he was always kind and helpful to every patient. They all loved him too. He will be missed by all who knew him. I am so so saddened to hear about the passing of "Blue".. I had not seen him since he left Suffolk, over 20 years ago, but he was without question one of the smartest, compassionate, and kindest human beings on this planet and I trusted him with my life! He was one great man and my love and prayers to Jess, and his entire family. May God bless you and keep you safe during this tough tough time...... I shall always remember him....

We were saddened to learn of Blue’s passing. We have many memories of him and Jesse when they were our neighbors in Suffolk. I used to find stray golf balls in our yard following Blue’s practice sessions. Our condolences to Jesse, Cam, Nilima and Antosh.

Dr. Nirmul was always a gentleman to patients and staff and we always enjoyed working with him. He did enjoy a good tennis match on the indoor Franklin YMCA courts even if Mike always won....that is Mike's version. We send our love to Dr. J and children and grandchildren.
