Bill and I worked in the same office for decades, along with Ron Kelley. We were the only "trio" of State Farm agents working under the same roof in the entire North American continent (he would find that funny, but it was true!). Bill was a dedicated father, a fantastic salesman, a calm and friendly presence, and just a pleasure to work alongside all those years. It's hard to believe he's gone... My associate Carrie misses him, too, and always tells stories about Bill even though we parted ways professionally 25 years ago, including how he taught her how to train dogs, which he had done years before in Vietnam. Bill was a laid-back but hard-working gentleman and he really demonstrated what a good neighbor should be with his generosity, unmatched kindness, and selfless concern for others, and that attitude greatly inspired those who worked around him. He left behind a legacy that will never be forgotten.

I had the chance to work with George Cooper or "Bill" as he like to be called for a short period of time during his long illustrious career with State Farm. He made an impact on the community that he served and to the people that he employed. My thoughts go out to his wife Karen, their children, and grandchildren during this time of grieving.

Karen and family,
Please accept Pat's and my condolences in the passing of Bill. Bill was the first person I met when we started with State Farm. We shared our office for two years and learned and supported each other during some very trying times. He was a good guy and will be missed.
Again our condolences to you and your entire family.

Dear Karen and Family,
Please know we are thinking of you during this sad time.
We have many fond memories of Bill coaching his Kempsville soccer teams back in the day. He was such a great coach, mentor, and a positive influence on my sons and many others on and off the soccer field.
We are so grateful of having known him as a neighbor and friend.
God bless.

I would like to share a memory about Bill who was one in a million kinda guy. We were having a breakfast meeting at a high end hotel with several agents headed up by our agency manager. When we had a break I went to the men´s room and returned back to continue the meeting as Bill set next to me I realized my ring was missing. I told Bill about it. He immediately said come on let´s find it. He asked me where I went and he said search the hallway first. Then he asked me what I did next. I told him I washed my hands and went back to the meeting. He looked into the trash can and there was no trash. A maid was going by with her cart. Bill stopped her and asked what she did with the trash. She explained the trash truck was backing up to pick up the trash that was placed in the back of the hotel. We went behind the hotel where Bill asked the trash truck driver to wait just a minute. There had to be a hundred trash bags back there. He grabbed the first bag and shook each paper towel and found nothing. He grabbed the next bag, shook the first paper towel. We heard a jingle as the ring bounced on the pavement. I was in awe of him from that point on. Another 5 minutes and the ring would have been lost forever. When Bill set his mind up to accomplish something he went after it methodically and with determination. Just one more example of being a one in a million. He loved life, and loved his family. My good friend Bill will always be in my heart.

Losing someone who has been a part of your life for many years is very difficult. My family knew the Cooper family well through scouting, ball games and so on. My sincere sympathy to all of the family at this sad time. Billy was well loved by many.

Our family has many fond memories of Billy and the entire Cooper family. Our fathers were childhood friends and the Cooper family welcomed us with open arms and love when we relocated to Portsmouth in the mid 1960’s. RIP Billy, with love Karides Family
