Godfried Koppers

Godfried G. Koppers PORTSMOUTH - Godfried Groot Koppers, 85, died peacefully on May 28, 2010. Mr. Koppers, a native of Haarlem, Holland, was the son of the late Cornelius R. Koppers and Elizabeth Groot Koopers. He was retired as U.S. representative and manager of J. Onderwater Company Inc., a Dutch flower bulb distributor. He was a member of the Church of the Resurrection and was the widower of Anna Moors Koppers since her death in 2004. Survivors include his siblings, Frans Koppers and wife Rea of Canada, Truus Hulsebosh, Jan Koppers and wife Nelly, Henni Koppers, and Jopie Brandsma, all of Holland; sisters-in-law, Rini Koppers, Gre Koppers, Lida Koppers all of Holland, and Maria Koppers of Germany; and numerous nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, June 7, in the Church of the Resurrection by the Rev. Michael Boehling. Friends may join the family at the church one hour prior to the Mass and at a reception following the Mass. Burial will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in Calvary Cemetery, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. Foster Funeral Home, Portsmouth, is handling arrangements. The family gratefully declines flowers, and suggests memorial donations to the Building Fund of Church of the Resurrection.
