Helen Fitchett Obituary


Helen D. Fitchett NORFOLK - Helen Dunton Fitchett, 92, passed away Oct. 28, 2008, at Bon Secours DePaul Medical Center. She was born in Machipongo, Va., June 9, 1916, the daughter of the late Howard Franklin Dunton and Susie Nottingham Dunton. Helen was a businesswoman beginning her career at the Bank of Virginia, then later finding the career she loved as a real estate agent for Virginia Realty. She was an active real estate agent for more than 37 years. She was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Leonard E. Fitchett; her sisters, Sallie McKenzie and Lola Bagot; and her dear cousin, Alida Yagley. Survivors include her brother, Franklin Dunton and his wife Anne of Chesapeake; nieces, Linda Strickland of Virginia Beach, Susan Dunton of Chesapeake and Betsy Morrison and husband Dev of Berryville; nephews, Wayne McKenzie and wife Darcy of Virginia Beach, Frank Dunton and wife Susie of Midlothian and Benjamin Bagot of Charlotte, N.C. A special thank you to her wonderful and loving caregivers, Verda Cooper and Vanessa Heard. A graveside service will be conducted at Forest Lawn Cemetery Saturday at 11 a.m. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive, is handling the arrangements.
