I just found out this sad news last night as I ran into a former co-worker. Hubert was a great person in so many ways. I got to work with Hubert at Alcoa for several years, he taught me so much and I respected this man for so many reason. He loved God, his family and his country so much. My prayers go out to his wonderful family.

Just now received this very sad news. Worked with Hubert off and on for the past 15 years and I've never met a more kinder and sweeter soul. Will miss him.

I am so, so sorry to hear of Hubert's passing. Velma and family, my deepest sympathies to you all.
Hubert was a true, dear friend that I will remember, and pleasantly do recall times spent with him while working with Hubert when I had to visit the Howmet facility.
I will miss him. His words, his faith - always there to lift up his fellowships. Rest in Peace Hubert - you are an honorable and deeply respected gentleman.
God bless -

I have known Hubert for the last 15 years. For those of you that knew Hubert at a young age, I can assure you that he indeed led a life full of purpose.
I was one of Hubert's customers, and he was the consummate professional. But more than that, he and I are brothers in Christ. Hubert was never bashful about letting you know how the Lord was blessing him. And he lived his life in a manner that the love of Christ shone through, in a very natural way.
Hubert and I had many laughs, and I had the pleasure of spending time with he and Velma after work the last couple of years. A few years back, we would enjoy indoor go kart racing....and I was never able to beat him!
Velma, Hubert has left us all too soon, but I know the Lord will continue to hold you closely. Cherish all the good times, and look forward to the day when we shall all meet again.
Love, your brother in Christ,
Patti Petty

Hubert's mother and my father went to school together. Hubert and I were in the primary grades together. He was such a sweet boy and treated everyone nicely. I can only imagine what a wonderful husband and father he grew into. My deepest sympathy to the family.

Hugh, that picture in the paper brought back a lot of memories. We probably played every day growing up, talked sports (you were tough to beat), girls (you were a charmer), cars (your blue Mustang). You and your Dad could fix anything I broke. I'll always remember the good times...double dates, dancing like fools on weekends, playing football at Maury and Ballentine, your wedding day (I hope the church recovered), and your belly laughs about anything half way funny. You were a cool dude and I'm sorry we drifted apart. Rest in peace.

It is interesting to read about Hubert, I have not seen or heard of him since 9th grade at Willard but I really respected him and knew he would have a great life. I am sorry to learn of his death. Blessings to Hubert and his family from a really old friend.

Coach you were a blessing in my life, I enjoyed the talks we have had, the many nights of working on my basketball skills with me after practices, and many days of playing softball with you.
The best memory I have was when we went to Valley Forge, Pa.
to play in a ball tourney. You were a good friend and mentor to me, you were a second father to me. Loves and misses you coach, soar and fly high above and watch over us, until we meet again, you are deeply missed...I love you Coach.

Hubert was a mentor to me at Alcoa in the quality department. One of the things I will always remember about Hubert is how professionally he conducted himself and how much coworkers and customers respected him. There's not a day that goes by that I don't find myself quoting or conducting myself here at Boeing the way that he would have and I contribute much of my success to him. He was a rare talent and will sorely be missed.
