Jacqueline Reid Obituary

Jacqueline Felicia Reid (Jacqui), 59, was born on August 25, 1962, in Charleston, South Carolina. Jacqui grew up in Tucson, Arizona and moved to Virginia in 2001. She passed away at her home in Portsmouth, Virginia on July 30, 2022. Growing up, Jacqui was a military dependent and travelled the world until the family settled in Tucson, Arizona. Jacqui graduated from Santa Rita High School where she was an outstanding athlete. As a member of the United States Air Force, Jacqui served in South Korea and in California. After leaving the military, Jacqui continued her education and received a Master of Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Jacqui is survived by her husband, Nurnie; children, Damon Heeter and Christopher Reid; her father, John Fultz (Vanetta); sisters Sheila Arrington (Gerald), Glenda Bonds, and Shawn English; nieces Samantha Parrish and Taylor English; nephew Gabriel Arrington; and godson James Bishop. Jacqui also leaves behind many other loving nephews and nieces. Jacqui is predeceased by her mother, Barbara Fultz and brother, Terrance Fultz.

Jacqui was known as "Mama Jack" by those she cared for and who loved her. Jacqui's home was always open to guests. Anyone who visited her was first greeted with a hug, a meal, and a cupcake. Jacqui helped raise and care for numerous children that were not her own. Much to her son's disapproval, Jacqui was an ardent Dallas Cowboys fan. It was not uncommon for she and Damon to "trash" talk whenever Dallas played San Francisco. She was a creative and talented baker who would provide the perfect cake for any occasion. Jacqui was a woman of God and member of the Miracle of Faith Baptist Church. She was also a dedicated member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Jacqui had a generous and loving spirit that she shared with everyone. Above all, the love she had for her husband and sons was beyond measure.

Visitation will be at J.T. Fisher Funeral Services on Saturday, Aug. 6, 2022, 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM. The funeral will be held Sunday, Aug. 7, 2022, 1:00 PM at Miracle of Faith Church. Following the service, Jacqui will be interred at the Boone Family Cemetery in Gates County, North Carolina. Condolences can be offered to the family at www.jtffs.com.
