James Cook Obituary


James E. Cook Jr. CURRITUCK - James E. "Jim" Cook Jr., 81, passed away Sept. 9, 2008. Born May 11, 1927, he was raised in Pawnee City, Neb., and was the son of the late James E. Sr. and Jessie C. Cook. He was predeceased by two sons, James E. III and Kevin J. Cook and a daughter, Suzanne J. Cook. Jim was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He later retired from Plasser American in 1993, where he was an electrical engineer. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 288 and the Forester Lodge. Jim will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband who was a hardworking man. Survivors include his loving wife of 24 years, Eileen M. Cook; five children, Douglas J. Cook, Veronica J. Perez, Donald K. Masingo Jr., Rodney H. Masingo and Robert P. Masingo; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Chalmer and Jack Cook; and two sisters, Barbara Jackson and Marcella Barnes. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Moyock Memorial Cemetery. The viewing will begin Friday with the family receiving friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Great Bridge Chapel of Oman Funeral Home & Crematory, 653 Cedar Road, Chesapeake. At all other times, the family will be at the residence. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. Friends are invited to sign the online guestbook at www.omanfh.com.
