James Coth Obituary


James W. Coth VIRGINIA BEACH - James W. Coth, 90, of the 4700 block of Crossborough Road, died at home surrounded by love March 3, 2008, at 11:10 p.m. Born in Royalton, Ill., Jan. 12, 1918, "Poppy" lived most of his life in West Virginia, was employed by the C&O Railroad for 42 years and married to his adored Virginia for almost 60 years until her death in 1999. In 2000, Poppy moved to Virginia Beach to live with his daughter, Georgia and her husband Steve who cared for him at home. Survivors include his loving and devoted son, Jim and his wife Mary of Middleburg, Fla.; daughter, Shirley Jean Hope of Chelyan, W.Va.; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. Special thanks to Poppy's recent helpmates, Vernell, LaVerne, Pinky, Crystal, Nori, Carmen, Sheila, Pitzu, Pat, Virginia, Ivan and Brenda who were all devoted caregivers and especially to Dr. Michelle Kingsbury, Poppy's own personal arcangel. Services will be private and Poppy will be laid to rest beside his beloved Virginia in Montgomery Memorial Park in London, W.Va. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Laskin Road Chapel, is handling arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Odyssey Healthcare/Hospice, 6363 Center Drive, Norfolk, VA 23502.
