James Dobbins Obituary

James Ryan Dobbins VIRGINIA BEACH - James Ryan Dobbins, 74, died Aug. 13, 2009, in Richmond, Va. He was born in West Virginia and had retired from the U.S. Navy as a commander. During his military career from 1958-1985, he served on VF-141, VF 151, Project Air Development Squadron Four and GMU-141, VF-154, VF-121, Cruiser Destroyer Group Two, and Naval Air Force Atlantic Fleet-Special Assistant Force Personnel. He had also previously worked with the Virginia Beach Chamber of Commerce, Orbital Technologies and Legal Resources. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Virginia Beach Rotary and the Bonga Golf Group. He loved flying and loved the Navy! His patriotism could only be rivaled by his love of family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Carol Ann Dobbins; two daughters, Catherine Ann Dobbins Madden and husband Brian of Virginia Beach and Laurie Jane Dobbins Cooksey and husband Todd of Midlothian, Va.; a son, James Ryan Dobbins Jr. and wife Kimberlee of Virginia Beach; a sister, Carol Ann Dobbins Jones of Florida; 10 grandchildren, Christopher, Austin, Drew, Brett, Reid, Blake, Ellis, Hannah Catherine, Sophia, Madelynn. A Mass of the Resurrection will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Church of the Holy Family with burial in Eastern Shore Chapel Cemetery with Fr. Thomas Quinlan officiating. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel, is handling arrangements. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.
