James Embleton Obituary


James R. Embleton VIRGINIA BEACH - James R. "Jim" Embleton passed away Jan. 13, 2008. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Phyllis and his daughters, Susan and her husband Barry Sprouse and Laura Embleton, all of Virginia Beach. He leaves behind four grandchildren, Marine Staff Sgt. Ryan Eldredge, Matthew and Joshua Eldredge and Barry Sprouse Jr.; his sister, Doris Silveria and her children of Sacramento, Calif.; and his "adopted" daughter, Christine Gomes of Lake Arrowhead, Calif. Jim served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He spent many years in Lake Arrowhead, Calif. as a Realtor before moving to Virginia Beach in 1968. For more than 16 years he was executive director and later director of sales and marketing for a well-known, non-profit organization in Virginia Beach. He then returned to real estate and continued to work as a Realtor with William E. Wood until his death. One of his greatest enjoyments was sharing games of tennis with his friends each week. Jim will be inurned at Arlington National Cemetery, Washington, D.C. with naval honors and a memorial ceremony at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 10.
