James Scott Gibson
Virginia Beach - James Scott Gibson, 58, died peacefully on April 17, 2013. He was predeceased in death by his father, James Alvin Gibson. Scott was born in Duluth Minnesota and moved to Virginia Beach in 1966. He graduated from First Colonial High School in 1973. He was the president of James A Gibson Incorporated from 1980 until 2004.Left to cherish his memories are his mother, Constance Mae Gibson of Amherst; sister, Sue Gibson Barnhart and her husband Luke R of Amherst; brother, Timothy Jay Gibson and his wife Kathie Lynn of Chesapeake; nephew, Ryan Timothy Gibson and his daughter Madison Page; niece, Courtney Lynn Savage and her children Conner Daniel and Peyton Lynn also of Chesapeake. As an avid outdoorsman, winter months were special for yearly trips with his father and brother to Tinkers' Place in Nester Falls, Ontario Canada for fishing and bird hunting, skiing with family at The Homestead, skiing at home with friends and traveling from the Australian Outback to the Alps in Switzerland with his good friend Allen Bond. Summer months revolved around the water. Scott was chartering yachts in the islands with friends, cruising the Chesapeake Bay or just relaxing on the beach. As a member of the Eastern Virginia Offshore Racing Association he graciously volunteered his time whenever there was a need. A celebration of Scott's life will be held on May 15, at the Jewish Mother Hilltop located at 600 Nevan Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23451 from the hours of 6 to 9 p.m. A private burial at sea will be held at a later date.
