James A. McAdoo
Ashburn - A memorial service for James A. McAdoo, 45, Senior Project Manager, TASC, Inc. (Chantilly, VA) was held at Saint Andrew Lutheran Church, Centreville, VA. on May 1st, 2013. Death occurred April 26, 2013 while a pedestrian crossing Loudoun County Parkway. Graduating from McLean High School in 1985 he began studies at University of Rochester on a Bausch & Lomb scholarship graduating in 1989 with B.S. in Physics Cum Laude. He began working for NASA Langley and earning an M.S. in Electrical Engineering at University of Virginia in 1994. Among many scientific achievements he invented Digital Mammography at NASA. He graduated from the College of William and Mary in 2000 with a Ph.D. in Applied Science. He held 6 patents. His scientific career was launched in April, 1983 when he was Grand Prize winner at the Regional Science Fair at Robinson High School in Burke, VA. His project was entered into the International Science and Engineering Fair later that year in Albuquerque, NM. James loved music and earned a 1 rating in State competition in Florida. James was born October 7, 1967 in Keosauqua, Iowa. He is survived by his parents Larry and Carol McAdoo of Virginia Beach, VA., his sister Beth McAdoo of Burke, VA., and is brother Timothy McAdoo of Bothell, WA. Two nephews and 1 niece, and his Grandmother, Helen McAdoo of Arkansas City, KS. Also surviving, and mourning his death is his wife Lisa (Mains) and their sons, James Alexander II, and Hunter Lee of Herndon, VA. His scientific achievements will continue to serve the citizenry of this nation for years to come.
