Jean Elizabeth Farrow
Norfolk - Jean Farrow died September 8, 2011 at Sentara Virginia Beach Hospital following a three year residency at the Virginia Beach Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. A Memorial Service and Celebration of Jean Farrow's life will be held at 3 o'clock on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at the First Presbyterian Church, 820 Colonial Avenue, Norfolk, VA.
Jean earned a BA Degree in Music Education from Mary Baldwin College and the MA Degree in Guidance and Counseling from Old Dominion University. For forty years, she worked in the Norfolk Public School System as a classroom teacher, supervisor and principal.
Jean was a talented musician, a classically trained singer known for her beautiful soprano voice, and she played the violin, trumpet, guitar, ukulele, piano and drums. She was the soprano soloist at First Presbyterian Church in Norfolk, for over twenty years, where she was also a member of the congregation until her death. For ten summers she asng in the choir of the former Williamsburg historical drama, "The Common Glory".
Condolences to the family in Staunton can be sent to her sisters, Mrs. Marcette Routt and Mrs. Annabelle Cook, 612 Alleghany Ave., Staunton, VA 24401-3132.
