Joann Eley
Suffolk - Joann "Sissy" Eley, 82, of Suffolk, VA, went to be with the Lord her savior on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. She was predeceased in death by her parents Joseph and Helen Whitmore, a baby daughter Kenna Ann Eley, her sister Melba Collete, and her brother Wesley Conway Whitmore.
Joann is survived by her husband of 63 years Kenneth Eley, her daughter Karen Lynn Spencer and husband Wayne of Suffolk, her son David Kevin Eley and his wife Marsha of Chincoteague Island, three brothers, Robert Whitmore and wife Mae, Fred Whitmore and wife Barbara, and Charlie Whitmore and wife Diane, all of Suffolk; and Sisters-in-law, Angie Griffin and husband, Henry, of Windsor, and Margaret Ramsey of Suffolk. Joann is also survived by her two grandsons, Matthew Spencer and wife Cristina and Justin Eley and wife Jennie. Joann was a member of First Baptist Church in Suffolk.
A funeral service will be officiated by Rev. Kevin Eley on Monday, October 15, 2012 at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 237 N. Main Street, Suffolk with burial in Holly Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. in the R.W. Baker & Co Funeral Home and Crematory, 509 W. Washington Street, Suffolk, VA. Memorial donations may be made to Suffolk Gideon Camp, PO Box 1214, Suffolk, VA 23439-1214. Condolences may be registered at www.rwbakerfh.com.

Aunt Sissy was one of a kind; so sweet and loving and always enjoyed when we all came to visit her and Kenneth. It has been wonderful being a part of the family. Sissy will be missed. My thoughts & prayers are with the family at this time. Love u all
