Joseph Trofe Obituary

Joseph E. Trofe II

Virginia Beach - Can you hear the rumble? That's Joe on his chromed out, polished up Street Glide with the new cams and pipes roaring into the everafter.

Joseph E. Trofe II, 59, died early Saturday morning ending a brief and sudden brawl with cancer. He was a native of Philadelphia (Gino's, not Pat's), a quality control specialist with MEB General Contractors, a gifted and fearless cook (think duck, deer heart, fish livers) and a connoisseur of life.

Joe leaves behind friends and family to keep his memory alive and an empty place in front of his five-burner, 18,000 BTU gas range.

He is survived by his wife and sidekick of 11 years, Lorraine Marie Eaton; a stepdaughter, Peyton Miller Moore; his aunt and uncle, Cheryl and Wayne Weaver of Virginia Beach; uncle Doug Knight of Matthews, N.C.; cousins Charlie Trofi of Tampa, Fla.; Maria Trofi Amenta of Sarasota, Fla.; Tracy Martin of Plano, Texas; Kristin Bell of Bonita Springs, Fla.; Debra Knight Rooney of Colombus, Ohio; Gary Knight of Matthews, N.C.; Robert Miller and Barbara Ann Miller of Philadelphia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Grace McCoy Minton Trofe, and father, Joseph E. Trofe I.

The family will receive friends at Saturday, March 19 at 11 a.m. at Family Choice Funerals, 5401 Indian River Road, Virginia Beach, with a celebration of life to follow at 11:30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Lorraine, my heart goes out to you for your loss. It is hard to find your perfect mate. I am sure Joe was just that for you.

I remember prom night when Joe drove afterwards for me and Les Fleming and our dates.
What a night!
And how could you forget that hair!
I will miss you at the next Norview reunion, Joe.

I am so glad I got the chance to meet Joe when Lorraine brought him along to our UVa roomies reunion a couple of years ago. Seeing them together, it was clear how much they meant to each other and what a positive force Joe was in Lorraine's life. Deepest condolences to Lorraine and to Joe's family.

The world is a dimmer place without Joe. I can still hear his voice and laugh. You will be missed.
