Lacey Hughes Obituary

Lacey Jane Hughes

Portsmouth - Lacey was born September 19, 1990. She went home to be with the Lord on October 30, 2017. Lacey was a free spirit who loved living life. She was kind hearted, always laughing. She had an infectious beautiful smile. Left behind to treasure their memories are her father and mother, Donald and Pamela Hughes; a brother, Donald R. Hughes II; a sister, Amber Forehand-Hughes. She leaves behind her fur babies, Church, Poptart, Praline, and Rambler. Lacey had many aunts and uncles, cousins, and many friends she loved. Our lives will never be the same without her. Rest in peace Baby Girl till we meet again, "Beaner."

A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 PM, Sunday, November 5, in Green Lakes Baptist Church, by Dr. Dwight Buchholz. The family asked that you stay to fellowship in the social hall following the service. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel Saturday evening 6 to 7:30 PM. Donations can be made to the Richmond Animal Care and Control Foundation, Chamberlayne Ave. Please help save the life of a dog or cat tinybigheart.

To the families and friends of Lacey Jane Hughes. I just want to send my deepest condolences to the families. I do not know the families personally but we all lose love ones in death. I am sorry for the loss of your love one and at such a young age. May God give all of you comfort and peace at this difficult time. Please allow God to strengthen you in your grief.

This news has me heartbroken. I didn't know Lacey well, personally but I did know about her. My oldest brother, Danny (James) and Donald were good friends when I was younger. She and my middle brother, Travis went to school together until we moved out of Portsmouth. She also dated the older brother of one of my best friend's growing up. She was a very beautiful, outspoken young woman and it pains me that she's gone. Her legacy will live on forever in the hearts of those nearest and dearest to her. ❤ Rest in peace, beautiful soul.
