Leonard Troxell Obituary

Leonard A. Troxell Sr. VIRGINIA BEACH - Leonard A. Troxell Sr., 74, passed away Jan. 26, 2009, in Virginia Beach. Leonard was a devoted husband, a loving father and great friend. He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service, Norfolk Naval Shipyard, and the U.S. Army. He served his country with distinction during the Vietnam War. Leonard was a kind and generous spirit and a guiding light to his family. He had a wonderful sense of humor and made friends everywhere he went. His expansive personality and large stature always made him the biggest person in the room. He had a strong work ethic and was a great provider for his family. He served as a role model and inspiration to those close to him. He is survived by his loving wife, Exuperancia Troxell; a daughter, Eva Carlise-Hanchett of Virginia Beach; and her three children, Jason Carlisle and his wife Dorothy and their children, Madelyn and Dean, Crystal Hanchett with Chris Elane and their daughter Emelina and Christian. Leonard is also survived by two sons, Vernon Troxell and his wife Vali of Gales Ferry, Conn., and their children, Christina, Christopher, and Dillon and Leonard "Lee" Troxell Jr. and his wife Christina of Virginia Beach and their children, Jack and Cole. He is also survived by one brother, Link Troxell and his wife Lilly of Sunnyland, Ill.; one sister, Shirley Session and her husband Steve of Spring Bay, Ill. Leonard was preceded in death by four brothers, Clarence, Joe, Roy, Louis and one sister, Eva. Leonard's loss will be deeply felt by all whose lives he touched. We are better people for having known him and loved him. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in Woodlawn Funeral Home, 6329 E. Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk. A service will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Saint Gregory the Great Catholic Church. Condolences may be offered to the family online at www.woodlawngroup.com.
