Linda Clark Obituary

Linda Hunt Clark passed away in the early hours of March 30, 2021, at the age of 72. She died in her home surrounded by her Daughters Nicole and Maria and son-in-law Tom.

Linda was born in Fairmont, North Carolina to Vernon and Hazel Hunt where she and her 9 siblings spent most of their childhood. She spent many years in the food and beverage industry sharing her skills of excellent southern cooking and wonderful hospitality that she inherited from her mother Hazel growing up.

In 1970 she gave birth to her daughter, Nicole, and dedicated her life to being the best mother she could be. Linda moved around the south from Fairmont, NC to Jacksonville, NC until settling down in Norfolk where she met her husband, Anthony "Tony" Clark, in the late 1980's. He welcomed Linda and Nicole into his life and home and together, the two of them, built a foundation of love and generosity that they will both be forever remembered for.

Linda was an excellent cook and loved to host and never needed a reason to do so either. Just like the rest of her family, you could count on Linda for a home cooked meal and a welcoming spirit when you visited. She never missed an opportunity to be around family either; whether it was her annual family reunion, a graduation, or a simple family gathering. If she could make it, you could count on her and Tony being there.

She spent the rest of her life dedicated to her close friends and family. She was always there when she was needed and never hesitated to help someone she loved in need. She spent a few years caring for her sick brother in her home being his ultimate care taker night and day. Then did the same thing when her husband, Tony, became ill. She extended her home to many family and friends over the years giving anyone a place to stay when they were in need.

Being the social butterfly she was, she made a great group of friends whom she enjoyed volunteering with within the local community. Her friends were just as much family to her as her children and grandchildren were and she enjoyed every bit of their company.

Linda leaves behind her daughters, Nicole, Eleanor, and Maria; son-in-law, Tommy; her siblings, Mary, Lee, Liz, and Ronald; her grandchildren, Thomas, Devon, Stacie, Sammie, Christa, Christopher "CJ" and Celina; great-grandchildren, Lexi, Carter, Cameron, and Oliver; and a special niece, Audrey, who stayed with and cared for her the last few months of her life. She also leaves behind her mother Hazel's last surviving sibling, Juanita, along with multiple nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents Linda is predeceased by her husband, Tony; her sisters, Berlin and Jackie; and her brothers; Sam, Greg, and Buddy.

A viewing will be held at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, 8464 Tidewater Drive, Norfolk, VA on Monday, April 5, 2021, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. A memorial service will be held at Linda's home on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.hollomon-brown.com.

Linda was a truly special and wonderful person. She was fun and warm. Linda loved our family and she always showed she cared and was concerned for our well being. She was also an outstanding cook with a great sense of humor. When I married into the family in 1993, she welcomed me with open arms and I truly cherish the good times we all had together at family reunions, Thanksgiving holidays, a family cruise, beach vacations and family get-togethers. One of my fondest recent memories was when she came and stayed with us for my son Jake’s high school graduation. We had a pig pickin’ and we all stayed up as a family into the wee hours of the night reminiscing, telling jokes, laughing, drinking and eating good food. Linda lived an exceptional life and I will embrace her. Alysia, Brandon, Jake and I will always have a special place in our hearts for Aunt Linda and we loved her dearly. I am blessed that Linda was a part of my life and God bless her.

Linda was not just my mother in law, but my best friend. Where ever we would gather you were in for a good time full of laughter. Her love of cooking and hosting were second to none. Our loss is heavens gain. The laughter will continue as I stroll through the memories and as all her friends and family will gather and we share fond thoughts about her.

There is not much that I can say about Nana that most of you don't already know. She was so delightful to be around and always ready to tell the next best joke that was guaranteed to make you laugh. I would like to think I inherited part of my personality from her. I can't imagine how hard life had been for her after the passing of my grandpa. The two of them were the perfect imperfect couple I've ever known. They were a major influence in my life and always showed me the utmost love. I am pleased to know the two of them are together once again. I will miss my grandma so much but I will never forget her. I thought about her everyday when she was alive and I cannot imagine that changing now that she has passed. Nana, I love you with all my heart and I dream of the day I'll be reunited with you and the rest of my family who has gone and will go before me.

To all the family and friends of my grandma, I'm sure you all know how much each of you meant to her. She loved everyone she knew so much and I'm sure she would want that reiterated over and over. Many people weren't able to speak with her the last few months and I know if she knew her days were numbered she would have reached out to everyone of you and told you she loved you dearly.

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid. - John 14:27
