Lloyd Jenkins Obituary

Lloyd E. Jenkins Jr., 84, of Isle of Wight County passed away at home January 15, 2018. He was born on December 29, 1935 in Northumberland County and later graduated from Maury High School in Norfolk, VA as a member of the Class of 1953. Lloyd was lovingly known to most as Pop. An estimator, his love for construction led him to a successful forty plus year career in the tile and stone business. During his career one of his greatest projects was working for a developer overseeing the Kiln Creek project for VOKCD. Pop loved dogs, and nothing brought him and his wife Jean greater joy than raising and showing dogs. Their involvement in the sport brought them many great adventures visiting new places and meeting interesting people. This led to many great friendships, and always one to give back, Pop was active in the Tidewater Kennel Club where he held many positions and spent countless hours volunteering with the club. Pop had a passion for shooting pool that stayed with him throughout his life, playing many years on 8 ball & 9 ball teams. Playing his final games on the Rack and Roll team just weeks prior to his passing. He was the most loyal person you would meet. If he gave you his word, that was all you ever needed. Pop was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd E. Jenkins and Essie Jenkins and his son Robert L. Jenkins. Left to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Norma Jean Jenkins; sons, Robert Wayne Jenkins, and wife Lori, Michael Terry Jenkins, Dennis Ray Jenkins; daughter, Belinda D. Skinner and husband James; grandchildren, Crystal Horner and husband Josh, Tristen Covington and wife Maria, Sherilyn Covington, Jana Betlach and husband Jeremy, and Obadiah Jenkins; great-grandchildren, Alexa Horner, Logan Horner, Josh Jr. Horner, Noland Covington, Graysen Covington, Kaya Betlach and Jameson Betlach; as well as his dog, Barbie and grand-dog, Roxy Gayle.A memorial service will be held for Pop on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at 3pm at Berceuse Funeral and Cremation Traditions, 2609 Cunningham Dr. Hampton, VA 23666. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Pop’s memory should be made to the Isle of Wight Animal Shelter at 13044 Poor House Rd. Windsor, VA 23397.
