Lucy James Obituary


Lucy C. James NORFOLK - Lucy C. James, 77, of the 200 block of W. 30th St., went to be with the Lord Feb. 4, 2008, in Harbour Point Rehabilitation Center. She was born Sept. 15, 1930, to the late Lemuel and Mattie Cherry in Windsor, N.C. Lucy was a member of New Hope COGIC, Norfolk. She retired from the Navy Exchange after 30 years of service. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving and devoted husband of 57 years, Joseph Henry James Sr.; two daughters, Regina Fuller (Henry) and Phyllis Gaynor (Robert), both of Norfolk; two sons, Joseph James Jr. of Manhattan and Michael James (Shelly) of Chesapeake; six grandchildren; one sister, Josephine Speller of Long Island, N.Y.; and a host of other relatives and friends. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Metropolitan Funeral Service, 7246 Granby St. Interment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Norfolk. Family and friends will assemble at 206 W. 30th St. one hour prior to the service for the procession to the chapel. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.metropolitanfuneralservice.com.
