Lucy Grantham Wilde CHESAPEAKE - Lucy Grantham Wilde died at her Chesapeake home Dec. 28, 2010. She was born in Hinds County, Mississippi, June 28, 1936 to the late Malcolm and Ina Burney Grantham. Lucy lived in Terry and Crystal Springs before graduation from Belhaven College (now Belhaven University) in Jackson, Miss. Lucy was an exceptional athlete and worked as a high school teacher and a coach. She was teaching on the Mississippi Gulf Coast when she met the love of her life, Thomas A. "Tom" Wilde. They married in 1966 and enjoyed living in many exciting places during Tom's career in the United States Air Force. They retired to Chesapeake following their service. Lucy continued to excel at golf at the Greenbriar Country Club and attended St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Lucy was predeceased by her parents, Malcolm and Ina Grantham, and her husband, Tom Wilde. She is survived by three sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and many cousins. She was especially thankful for her dear neighbors and the Mississippi cousins. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4 in the Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the ASPCA or the ALS Foundation.
