Marcelino Pichel Obituary
Suffolk - Marcelino Pichel passed away on October 9, 2016. He was born in Brooklyn, NY of immigrant parents, Pura Garcia and Francisco Sanchez Pichel. After graduating from Baldwin Wallace College, he served 26 years in the Army and Navy. He participated in the Bay of Pigs, Cuban Missile Crisis, and Berlin Crisis. He went on to become a commanding officer and served in Naval Intelligence.
He is survived by his wife Nancy Haslett Pichel; son Frank H. Pichel and wife Hedwig, his daughter , Tracy P. Shield and husband Jamie; grandchildren Lilly, Luc, and Emmett; brother Frank M. Pichel and wife Jeanne; and beloved cousin Joseph Garcia and wife Sandy; nieces and nephews, Kip, Logan, Kim, Deb, Sue, and Marc; and family in Boston and Spain.
A funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at 11 AM in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, 509 W. Washington St. Suffolk, by Rev. Michael D. Halley. The burial will follow in Holly Lawn Cemetery. The family will received friends in the funeral home on Tuesday from 6 to 8 PM.
Memorial donations may be made to the Suffolk Humane Society, Suffolk Christian Church, or the American Cancer Society. Condolences may be registered at RWBakerFH.com.

Nancy, and Pichel family, I just recently learned of Marcy's passing. I am so sorry for your loss. Although I met him only a few times, he brought a great deal of laughter and merriment to us. I know he will me missed by all of the family. Again, my condolences. Sue Stoudnour
