Margaret Cutchin Obituary
Portsmouth - Margaret Deane Cutchin, 91, a lifelong resident of Portsmouth went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 24, 2015. She was born on June 24, 1924 in Portsmouth to the late Jesse and Ella Johnson. Margaret retired after 40 years as a secretary for the U.S. Dept. of Labor; and was a piano teacher for Portsmouth Christian Schools, as well as a private piano teacher in her home. She was a former member of the Tidewater Music Teachers Forum, the Virginia Music Teachers Assoc., the National Music Teachers Assoc., the American Guild of Organist; and was a former organist at Beech Grove UMC. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Jordan Deane; and two brothers, Jesse and Linwood Johnson.
She is survived by her husband, John A. Cutchin, Jr.; a daughter, Susan D. Barker; a son, John T. Deane; two step daughters, Terrie C. Jolliffe and Nancy C. Horsley; a step son, John A. Cutchin; a brother, Robert Johnson; 13 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and a host of extended family.
A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Saturday, June 27, 2015 in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel by Rev. T.M. Frye. Entombment will be private in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Please accept my deepest sympathy for the loss of a truly wonderful woman and the best piano teacher ever. My thoughts of Mrs. Deane (as I knew her), are such sweet memories of 10 years of piano lessons, theory, recitals, and love. She will always be in my thoughts and her family in my prayers.
