My family learned today of Ms. Margie's passing. We extend our deepest condolences to Bart and the rest of the family as well as the countless friends who loved her as we did. During our 3 years living across the street from Ms. Margie, she was our closest friend, a confidante to my wife during the long months when I was deployed, and a grandmother figure to our son. We are so blessed to have crossed paths with Ms. Margie. She was one of a kind; a true American icon. We will miss her dearly.
Bart: if you see this, please email me your contact info sometime at your convenience.

My Mom and Marjorie were the same age Mom's birthday was March 25th & Marge's was May 16th . I always called her as my Southern Momma. They are both in Haven keeping an eye on me .I will always have them in my heart. I learned how to make Sweet Potatoes Biscuits, from many times each year she would give me a new hint of something to put in them finally after many years she said i got it right. they both will surly be missed

Marjorie- the personification of wrought iron filigree. Her delicate beauty and strength, like nature frozen in time, sustained her for 96 years. I think about her with Papa now and wonder if they are herons in the sky or creatures of the sea, but I know for sure that they are together in love for eternity.

Dear Bart,
We were saddened to hear of Marjorie's passing.
Marjorie and Norman, "Mr. and Mrs. Theberge" were like second parents to me during my time in Virginia Beach. They gave unconditionally to the Virginia Beach High School Grid Iron Association,
bringing in great motivational speakers like Johnny Unitas to speak to our Seahawks Football team. They arranged dinners, tour buses, great snacks, we always had everything first class due to Mr. and Mrs. Theberge.
I will treasure my knitted hat and scarf that Mrs. Theberge made for me. Many of my best Virginia Beach memories include Mr. and Mrs. Theberge.
Bart, please call me again, I don't have your telephone number.

Dear Bart And Billy...we were just informed today, Nov 30th, that your Mom and Sister, Marjorie, had recently passed. It saddens us all greatly to learn of this news. My mother, Selma SNYDER Rayfield, who turns 92 in Dec, as well as my wife and I tried to see Marjorie at least annually to share some quality time, catch up on our respective families, and to revisit the past years we had so enjoyed when we were all so much younger.
Marjorie was my first Kindergarden teacher at Hapoy Hours near Oceana, as was the case with my siblings. We all closely connected as a family then, and remained in touch throughout the decades. It was because Majorie was so wonderful in every respect...so inviting, warm, loving, and gracious. Later, my first daughter, Olympia, had the good fortune of Marjorie as her first teacher. Nothing made me happier and more proud that two generations from my family could share in the same wholesome and nurturing experience.
Our times visiting Marjorie on the waterfront, in the home that Norman built, was always special, just a block away from her original home. I recall when I finished my piano lessons with Mrs. Ort on Kennedy Ave., I would walk down the street and visit Marjorie, and we would talk about many things, which always included her love for you, Bart. We are also proud recipients of some beautiful knitwear which are, today, treasured accessories to keep us warm from a very special and much loved friend in our lives.
The Snyder family all send our love and sincere condolences to you both, and to your dear families at this time of loss. Majorie lived a long and fulfilled life...and she will be sorely missed....and as others have said...we should all be so lucky. Much love. Louie Snyder

Such a remarkable woman! She lived life on her own terms but kindness and generosity were a huge part of her spirit. I so enjoyed our long talks over the years. May you rest in peace, Marjorie.

Bart and Family,
Thank you for all of the years that both your Mom and Dad afforded the rest of the kids in the neighborhood. From crabbing, sledding down the front hill, 4th of July fireworks and decorating the Christmas Tree in the yard for the animals. Our youth was filled with wonderful moments.
