Martin Crook Obituary

Martin N. Crook VIRGINIA BEACH - Martin N. Crook, 90, went to be with his Lord and Savior on June 18, 2010 and was reunited with his loving wife of 67 years, Flora, in their heavenly home. He was born in Conway, Ark. on Aug. 24, 1919. Martin served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and participated in the Battle of the Bulge. He later served with the Veterans Administration as a chief financial officer for 35 years. Martin was very active in his church and found great joy in serving his Lord. He was most recently a member of Thalia Lynn Baptist Church. Left to cherish his memory is his son, Martin Nelson Crook Jr. (Lynne) of Collierville, Tenn., and daughter, Barbara Gail Neal (Terry) of Virginia Beach; grandchildren, David Crook (Cheri), Bangkok, Thailand, Jonathan Crook of Los Angeles, Calif., Cpl. Kevin Crook in Afghanistan, Kimberly Mallory (John), of Virginia Beach, Angela Walters (Josh) of Virginia Beach and Gregory Neal (Catherine) of Virginia Beach; great-grandchildren, Noah and Sydney Crook, Mathew and Ryan Mallory, Kelley and Kara Walters and Caleb and Ashley Neal. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home, Virginia Beach. A celebration of life will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with burial to follow in Rosewood Memorial Park with military honors. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to The Rev. Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, 1 Billy Graham Parkway, Charlotte, NC 28201 or Heartland Hospice Memorial Fund, Heartland Home Health Care and Hospice, 5029 Corporate Woods Drive, Suite 200, Virginia Beach, VA 23462.
