Martin Ornoff Obituary

Martin H. Ornoff NORFOLK - Martin Howard "Marty" Ornoff, 77, loving husband, father and grandfather, died peacefully Saturday, April 3, 2010 after a 10-year struggle with dementia. He was born Jan. 8, 1933 the son of the late Sadie and Irving Ornoff in Norfolk. He was a 1951 graduate of Maury High School and a retiree of the U.S. Army Reserves. He was a printer in the family- owned Atlantic Printing Company. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Gloria Behrman Ornoff; four children, Allison Durkee of Hampton, Va., Jeffrey Ornoff of Detroit, Gary (Christine) Ornoff of Chesapeake, Adam Ornoff of Richmond, Va.; brother, Edward (Gussie) Ornoff of Orlando, Fla.; and four grandchildren, Matthew Durkee, Jackson Ornoff, Lindsey and Logan Wilder. A graveside service will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery on Wednesday, April 7, at 11 a.m. with Cantor Elihu Flax. Shiva will be held at Algonquin House immediately following until 3 p.m. Online condolences may also be made by visiting www. altmeyer.com. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association. We offer a special thank you to the faculty and staff at Pinewood Inn for their loving care and support. Altmeyer Funeral Home, Southside Chapel, 5792 Greenwich Road, Virginia Beach, is in charge of arrangements.

Dear Gloria, I am so sorry to hear about Marty. I know this has been a very difficult time for you, and I hope that he rests in peace now and his suffering has ended. My sister, Allison, is out of the country at the moment, but I'm sure she shares in my thoughts and wishes for you and your family.
