Maxine Stubbs

Maxine M. Stubbs CHESAPEAKE - Maxine Elliott Midgett "Mammy" Stubbs, 95, of the 1200 block of Stewart St., passed away Aug. 2, 2009. A native of Norfolk County, she was the daughter of the late Robert B. and Annie Richardson Midgett and wife of the late William L. Stubbs. She is survived by three daughters, Linda Ann Castaneda and her husband Carlos of Charlotte, N.C., Rita L. White, and Shirl Stubbs Moyer and her husband Steve; a son, Carl T. Stubbs and his wife Nellie, all of Chesapeake; 12 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Betty Maxine Carter and Jennifer Raye Stubbs; and three sons, Murray J. Stubbs, William Lloyd Stubbs Jr., and Robert Joseph Stubbs. The family would like to thank Kia Blakely, Mammy's caretaker and friend, as well as Sentara Hospice for the tender care they showed to Mrs. Stubbs. The funeral will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in Graham Funeral Home, Greenbrier Chapel, with Pastor Pete Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Memorial Park.
