I was one of the four finalists for the position of MCPON when Bob was selected in June 1975 for that position. Bob became a good friend and shipmate whom I respected and supported throughout his tenure as MCPON. I have many great memories of MCPON Bob Walker; we had some very good times over the years together and he will be greatly missed by old sailors who loved the Navy as he did, without reservation. My sincere condolences to Fran and Bob's family. I wish him fair winds and a following sea as he reports to the Supreme Commander.

I last saw MCPON Walker a couple of years ago. He worked as a liaison for Pioneer Financial Services and when I realized who he was, I found myself coming to attention as I spoke to him. He was so gracious to me. I told him, your my 1st MCPON when I joined, I proceeded to let him know that I was a retired Sr Chief myself and he put his hand on my shoulder and said here you go Senior Chief. I want you to have this. It was a Beautifully engraved MCPON Coin with his service date on it. It sits on my mantel at home to this date. R.I.P. MCPON Walker "We have the watch Shipmate"!
