Michael K. Majer NORFOLK - Michael Karl Majer, 59, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2009, in a local hospital. Born in Red Wing, Minn., and raised in Yonkers, N.Y., he was the son of the late Kirsten Dahlberg and Harold Majer. Michael retired from the U.S. Navy after 25 years and then taught social studies in the Chesapeake Public Schools. Michael obtained his undergraduate degree from New York University and his master's degree in education from Old Dominion University. Left to cherish his memory are a daughter, Christina R. A. Majer of Boston; a son, Karl M. K. Majer of Reston, Va.; his former wife, Rosa Motta of Norfolk; and a grandchild. A Catholic wake service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel. Burial will take place in Arlington National Cemetery at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, 2009.
