Miriam Atkinson Obituary

Miriam J. Atkinson VIRGINIA BEACH - Miriam J. Atkinson, 48, passed away Thursday, Aug. 5, 2010. The daughter of Steve S. and the late Helen J. Dudley, she was born on the Island of Barbados, West Indies, where the family lived incident to her father's U.S. Navy duty. She is survived by her son, Ryan P. Atkinson; father, Steve of Virginia Beach; brother, Steven A. Dudley and wife Maria Alasia of California; sister, Marie Stapleton and her family of Nevada; uncle, Paul Garrison and wife Selma and family of South Carolina; aunts, Christine Dudley of South Carolina, Mary Lou Newborn and Joyce Dudley of Georgia. She was preceded in death by her mother, Helen Dudley and brother, John C. Dudley. Viewing will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 12, at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home, 601 N. Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach. Immediately following the viewing a funeral will be held at the Chapel of Peace at Princess Anne Memorial Park on Great Neck Road, Virginia Beach. Miriam loved her cats which were her constant companions and a comfort to her during her long illness. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Virginia Beach SPCA. You may pay condolences to the family at www.kellumfuneral home.com.
