Myrtle Dakos Obituary

Myrtle F. Dakos NORFOLK - Myrtle Frances Weaver Dakos, 88, passed away Jan. 30, 2009, surrounded by her loving family in Chesapeake Regional Medical Center. A resident of Norfolk, she was the seventh child of Willie F. and Myrtie E. Bradley Weaver. As a loving and devoted wife and mother, she was widowed after 53 years of marriage to the late retired U.S. Navy Robert W. Dakos. She retired after 27 years of federal service from the Naval Supply Center. Myrtle was a 50-plus member of Talbot Park Baptist Church, a past matron of Westminster Chapter No. 99, Order of the Eastern Star and a member of Al Kena Temple No. 124, Daughters of the Nile. Myrtle leaves to cherish her memory her son, L.J. Dakos and his wife Karen (Goo) of Chesapeake; daughter, Darlene Hawkins and her husband Timothy of Fort Wayne, Ind.; granddaughter, Michelle Weschler and her husband Joe of Moyock, N.C.; and great-grandson, Dalton Thomas Dakos-Weschler. A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, 8464 Tidewater Drive. The Rev. M. Keith Martin will officiate. Interment will be in Rosewood Memorial Gardens, Virginia Beach. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home Monday. Myrtle loved her two poodles, Charlie and Keller, who preceded her in death. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the SPCA.
