Nicholas Didio Obituary

Nicholas A. Didio PORTSMOUTH - Nicholas Anthony "Nick" Didio, 95, of Oregon Avenue, passed on to eternal life Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010. Mr. Didio, born in Portsmouth, was a loving and dedicated husband, father and grandfather. He retired from the Norfolk Naval Shipyard with 39 years of service as a boilermaker and planner/ estimator. He was the owner and operator of Didio's Restaurant. He was past president of the Italian-American Citizen Lodge No. 1077, past Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus No. 418, a former member of Portsmouth Rotary Club and a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church. Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Vivian Ferguson Didio; four children, Kathy D. Gardner and husband Ronnie of Chesapeake, Karen "Sissy" Didio of Portsmouth, Konnie D. Emons and husband John of Chesapeake and Kristie D. O'Neill of Suffolk; a sister, Josephine Didio of Portsmouth; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, at St. Paul's Catholic Church by the Rev. David W. Cupps. Burial will follow in Olive Branch Cemetery. A Christian wake service will be held at 6 p.m. Monday in Baker-Foster Funeral Home, Bennett's Creek Chapel, 5685 Lee Farm Lane, Suffolk. Memorial donations may be made to St. Paul's Catholic Church Restoration Fund, 518 High St., Portsmouth, VA 23704. Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to Parson's Residential Care for the compassionate care given to our father. Condolences may be registered at www.bakerfoster. com.
