Dr. Pamela Denise Anthony

Portsmouth - Pamela Denise Anthony was born June 28, 1971 and departed this life January 17, 2017 in Dallas after a courageous battle with cancer. A graduate of Manor High School in Portsmouth, Pam matriculated at James Madison University, where she was also initiated into the Iota Alpha Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.. She had an unwavering love for the Sorority and her Sorors. Pamela continued her education earning a Master's Degree in Student Personnel in Higher Education from the University of Georgia and a Ph.D. in Educational Policy Studies from Georgia State University.

Pamela traveled globally visiting many countries and began her career in student life and development at the University of Alaska, serving as Coordinator of Residence Life and Coordinator of Multicultural Affairs. Pamela also served as Director of Student Activities at Spelman College, Assistant Dean and Director of Student life at Georgia State University, and Director of Student Life and Leadership and Assistant Dean of Students and Dean of Students at Iowa State University. Pamela began her role as Vice President for Student Affairs at Southern Methodist University, February 1, 2016. On October 12, 2012, Pamela became an ordained minister at Destiny World Church in Atlanta. She leaves to treasure her precious memories, her amazing parents, Forris and Violet Anthony; her beloved brother, Darryl Anthony and a host of relatives, friends, sorors and colleagues.

A home going celebration will be held, 11am, Friday, January 27, 2017 at Shiloh Baptist Church, 745 Park, Ave., Norfolk, Pastor Keith Jones, officiating, with burial taking place at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Chesapeake. Omega Omega Service hosted by the Portsmouth Alumni Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Inc. will start promptly at 6pm, Thursday, January 26, 2017, and will be open to the public, followed by viewing at Metropolitan Funeral Service, 120 W. Berkley Avenue, Norfolk. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.metropolitanfuneralservice.com.
