Pamela Stone Obituary

Pamela C. Stone

Hertford - Pamela Gail Carter Stone, 57, of 105 Strick's Lane, passed away peacefully to be with the Lord on Monday afternoon, January 18, 2016 in her daughter's home in Elizabeth City where she was surrounded by her husband, two daughters, and twin grandchildren.

Mrs. Stone was born in Norfolk, VA on June 21, 1958, and was the daughter of the late William Thomas, Jr. and Carol Elizabeth Wells Carter. Raised in Virginia Beach, she was a graduate of Kempsville High School. A homemaker, she dearly loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially their yearly summer vacations at the beach where she loved digging her toes into the sand, and the many times she spent floating the day away in the pool. One of her favorite pastimes was the moments spent sitting back and listening to her husband sing and play his guitar. A member of New Hope Christian Fellowship in Elizabeth City, she adored her church family and the time spent with her many friends. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her father-in-law, George W. Stone.

Surviving are her husband of nearly 32 years, Michael Thomas Stone; two daughters, Christina Jones of Elizabeth City and Ashley Stone of Albuquerque, NM; twin grandchildren, Taylor and Brittney Jones; a sister, Susan Carter Lambert and husband Darren of Virginia Beach, VA; her mother-in-law, Betty Jean Stone; sister's-in-law, Holly Longtin and husband Mike and Mia Adams and husband Dan, all of Virginia Beach; a brother-in-law, David Stone of Alaska; six nieces, Kaitlyn; Heather, Betty, Debra, Fawn, and Katie; five nephews, B.J., Ryan, Colin, Austin, and Alex; and a great-nephew, Dylan.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in New Hope Christian Fellowship by the Rev. Greg Brinson. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Elizabeth City. Friends may join the family Friday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. in Miller & Van Essendelft Funeral Home, 1125 Harvey Point Road, Hertford.

Dear Mike and family,
You have been in our thoughts and prayers during these days and weeks since we learned that Pam was so ill. Her strong faith throughout this illness has been evident, and such a testimony to all that followed her journey on Facebook. We have sweet memories of our days together at Kempsville and the friendship of the girls. We pray for peace for you all during the days ahead. Our plan is to be at the service tomorrow, which I know will be a celebration of Pam's wonderful life. Love, John and Susan Danchise

To Pam's family,
I did not have the pleasure of meeting Pam, or becoming friends/family with her. It is evident from her pictures and loved ones comments that she was a lovely strong woman. What a beautiful heart and smile. She "added" her lasting and special ingredient of herself into our lives. I pray for peace and tender loving memories to the famly.

Pam was one special lady! She never saw a stranger, made everyone feel like family and was one of the most loving people I've ever met. She had a gift for making people feel special and for looking past one's flaws and seeing only the good. She will be dearly missed but her spirit remains in the hearts of all who had the privileged of knowing her. May God bless her family with peace and beautiful memories of the life she led and the love she had for each of you. My prayers are with you.

My deepest condolences to the family. Pam and I graduated from high school together, and were in the high school girls Sunday School class at KBC during those years as well. I've been glad to reconnect with Pam in recent years via FaceBook. She was a delightful lady, compassionate and so proud of you all.

Aunt Pam was an amazing woman who's heart knew no distance. I loved our small chats we'd have it was as if nothing got in the way talking to her no matter how long you went without speaking. I can still hear how she would call my name "Jeannie". I love you all.
