Peter Field Obituary


Peter Jones Field RURAL RETREAT - Peter Jones Field, 57, of Rural Retreat and Independence, Va., passed away Aug. 31, 2008, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Roanoke. He was born March 1, 1951, in Arlington, Va., to Henry C. Field Jr. and Phoebe J. Withers. Surviving are his wife, Mary Lucy Field of the home; two sons, Peter Jones Field II of North Wilkesboro, N.C., and Taylor Copenhaver of Independence; his mother, Phoebe Withers Field of Virginia Beach; sister and spouse, Bronte and James Carlopio of Brisbane, Australia; two brothers and spouses, Rusty and Nancy Field of Johnson City, Tenn., and Whit and Andy Field of McLean, Va.; very special aunt, Dorris McNeal of Virginia Beach; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews also survive. A memorial service was held 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, 2008, in First United Methodist Church, Independence, Va., with the Rev. Terri Johnson Gregory officiating. The family received friends Wednesday, Sept. 3, from 7 to 9 p.m. in Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home, Independence, Va. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests to consider memorial contributions to Rural Retreat Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 111, Rural Retreat, VA 24368 or First United Methodist Church, Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 219, Independence, VA 24348.
