Peter Lopresti Obituary
Chesapeake - Rev. Dr. Peter Lopresti, 90, a faithful servant of the Lord, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Oct. 1, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters, and three brothers. While in the Army Air Force, he accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. Upon discharge from the service, he earned B.A. and M.A. degrees from Bob Jones University. Upon furthering his education at three theological seminaries, he received the Doctor of Ministry degree. Dr. Lopresti pastored Baptist churches in Virginia for over 35 years. Upon retirement as a pastor, he became the assistant to the pastor at Good News Baptist Church for six years, where for the last 24 years, he taught the Senior Adult Bible Class.
Survivors include his faithful and loving wife of 56 years, Cherry Moore Lopresti; daughters, Gail Lopresti Fowler and husband Lee, and Sharon Lopresti Spain and husband Richard; four grandsons, Justin Kinchen, Blair Kinchen (Jennifer), Cody Fowler, and Grayson Cole Spain; and four great-grandchildren, Micah, Luke, Caroline and Patrick Kinchen.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Oct. 5, at 11 AM at Good News Baptist Church, 3252 Taylor Road, Chesapeake, VA 23321, by the Rev. Mike Ascher and Dr. Walt Coles. Visitation at the church will be one hour before the service. Burial will be at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk, at 1 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Foreign Mission Program of Good News Baptist Church or Union Mission. www.SturtevantFuneralHome.com
