Raymond Barnes Obituary
Norfolk - The Rev. R. Whitney Barnes passed away on October 19, 2012. Born on November 24, 1922 in Syracuse, New York, where he was raised, he attended Syracuse University and graduated from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut. He received a Master of Divinity degree from the Union Theological Seminary in New York in 1950. He served in parishes in Massachusetts, Washington, D.C., Charles County, Maryland and in Mississippi. After retiring in 1990, he lived in New Orleans and Portsmouth, Virginia before retiring to Florida.
Memorial services are being held in Lighthouse Point, Florida and in Virginia. Burial will be at Abingdon Episcopal Church in Gloucester County, Virginia.
