When I first met Dick in 1974 when he was the assistant Chief Engineer, under George Hillier. I was an Master Control Operator for WVEC for 11 years before moving on to KHOU in Houston in 1985. Dick was a mild man, but early on during my tenure at WVEC, one day he had just about enough of me and he set me straight. After that, we bonded! Every so often, I'm reminded of that encounter and it makes me humble. You see, if it were not for Dick, I would still have been there living life day-to-day, with no vision insight. Today I'm retired in Houston from broadcasting. R.I.P Dick!
